Song or Suicide IV: Say You'll be there

"Say you'll be there", para quién no la conozca que una canción de las Spice Girls. Este grupo británico que se popularizó en la década de los 90 fue mi primer contacto con la música, y escuchar cualquiera de sus canciones es como viajar en el tiempo, trasladándome a esa época tan feliz que es mi niñez, por eso cada vez que oigo alguna esbozo una sonrisa.

Es dificil elegir una canción preferida de este grupo, al menos para mí, todas me resultan especiales y geniales. Recuerdo que me compraron las cintas de cassette de "Spice" y me pasaba horas y horas escuchando esta canción, así como "Wannabe", "Naked", "Mama" y "2 becomes 1". Rebobinaba una y otra vez la cinta para escuchar las mismas canciones. Me encantaba "Say You'll be there" pero al rebobinar nunca sabía en que pista estaba y a veces la confundía con Naked, por que tienen una intro similar.
"Say you'll be there" fue el segundo sencillo del grupo. Fue el segundo tema que se lanzo de su álbum debut Spice y el segundo en alcanzar número uno en el Reino Unido. Debido a su popularidad el tema fue lanzado en 1997 en Canada y Estados Unidos, logrando posicionarse dentro de los 3 primeros puestos en los 2 países.
De esta canción me fascina la introducción que hace con el piano para luego darle un toque más R&B a la melodía. También me encanta la harmónica que suena a mitad de la canción que le da un toque country.
Me resulta complicado resaltar únicamente una frase de esta canción, por lo que me quedo con la que da nombre a la misma: "Say you'll be there" (dí que estarás ahí).
